ISRAEL : Brown Beach House – Retro Miami Beach Meets Tel Aviv

If you follow me on Instagram and on Facebook, you couldn’t miss the fact that Daniel and I officially got married at the end of May ? ? ?

After being engaged for 9 months, during which we drove and flew back and forth from Eilat to Tel Aviv very frequently {arrangements, measurements and preparations}, we finally reached the moment of truth.

So even though I’ll only publish the official wedding post in a few months {It's up! you can read all about it here & here }, after we’ll get the pictures and videos from our amazing photographers who accompanied us throughout our special day, I decided not to wait and tell you everything about the hotel we stayed in for our wedding day  – especially since the wedding season officially started just recently, and if there’s a hedonist getting married in Israel soon, then I’m sure they’ll be very happy to know about this hotel!

Right from the start I knew that I wanted to spend the morning of my wedding in a hotel rather than at home – not only because we moved to Eilat for a few years, which is very far from our wedding venue, but mainly because there’s nothing more pampering than getting ready in a hotel and spending an enjoyable morning with your girlfriends like in the cheesy American movies.

When I searched for a hotel that would meet all the criteria I wanted – a boutique hotel, in the center of Tel Aviv, with large rooms and designed meticulously – I instantly fell in love with the Brown Beach House Hotel.

Believe it or not, but the hotel was the first thing we closed for the wedding, which means that for 8 months I fantasized about the moment we’ll get to stay in the luxurious and pampering room we promised ourselves {between us, I may have been more excited about the hotel than about the wedding itself?}.

Let’s cut to the chase – here’s everything you want and need to know about the hotel

Background

Until recently, if you wanted to stay in one of the hotels located on the shoreline of Tel Aviv, you only had one option – to stay in one of the old hotel chains, most of which were built somewhere in the 70’s or 80’s, and let’s face it – their style hasn’t changed significantly since then.

Just a year ago, a new boutique hotel opened on the shoreline – the Brown Beach House, the younger sibling of the successful boutique hotel, BROWN TLV, which has already been chosen as one of the best new hotels in the world by the leading international magazine “Travel & Leisure”.

This new and hipstery hotel is designed in a completely different way than the other hotels in the area – think Tropicana meets Retro-Glam Miami style, with the design intertwined in each one of the 40 luxurious and spacious rooms the hotel offers its guests.

The Location

For me, central location was a must when I chose the hotel, because it was very important for me to be in the center of everything and to be able to close all of the loose ends the day before the wedding {Mani-Pedi, a little shopping for the morning of the wedding and other things we had to buy last minute} without having to move the car or use public transportation.

The Brown Beach House is in one of the hottest areas of Tel Aviv – it’s located on Hayarkon Street, just a short hop from the beach, a five minute walk from the urban area of the city {Bugrashov and Dizengoff steets}, and most importantly – the hotel offers relatively cheap parking for hotel guests only – 35 NIS per day.

It was really the most ideal option.

The Design

The hotel’s design was undoubtedly one of the main reasons we chose to stay at the Brown Beach House.

One of the most important things to me when I go on vacation is to stay in a hotel that makes me feel like I’m in the most beautiful place in the world, especially when it’s a hotel chosen especially for the preparations on the morning of the wedding and for the photographs taken there.

The Brown Beach House hotel was designed in a distinct retro-glam style, like a luxurious house on the beach, with a Miami Beach and the French Riviera vibes, inspired by the unique combination between the beach and resort atmosphere and the urban environment that characterizes Tel Aviv.

From the second we walked into the hotel we felt as if we were in a huge design magazine: the spacious lobby, spa, restaurant, bar and of course the rooms are all designed in a sophisticated way that successfully combines the polished glam from the 50’s, using a color palette based on black, cream and gold; and Tropicana, with striking touches of bold yellow, royal blue and a lot of green the shade of palm trees.

This design also appears in the hotel’s branding materials – the keys to the rooms, information cards, menus and even the elevators are all designed in the ‘Miami Beach during the 50’s’ style with bold icons of flamingos, palm trees, sun umbrellas and lounge chairs.

This is exactly what I like in this kind of boutique hotels – unlike regular hotel chains, you get the sense that they pay attention to the smallest details – and they ultimately end up creating the wonderful atmosphere in the hotel.

The Service and Atmosphere

Service could be a ‘make it or break it’ thing for me when I stay at hotels, and when I get to a hotel with such high standards I expect to get the best, most professional and pleasant service possible that you dream of.

Like in many boutique hotels, the whole check-in process is done while sitting at the reception desk which is at the entrance to the hotel’s luxurious lobby, in front of lovely staff members, who offered us glasses of chilled champagne the second we sat down, and also escorted us to our room.

Additionally, the staff was super accommodating and quick, and they knew how to take care of all the requirements that came up on the wedding day – an extension cord for the room, a bar stool for makeup, arranging the room the morning of the wedding and again in the afternoon – all done with huge smiles.

The Room

The hotel has 10 types of rooms at different price levels, from a standard double room to a deluxe suite with two bedrooms.

We stayed in a room which was a studio penthouse – it was just a dream come true!

The room was a luxurious suite, 55 square meters {huge by any standard, and especially for a central city like Tel Aviv}, with a huge panoramic balcony, a tanning sofa, a seating area and the cherry on top – a huge Jacuzzi.

The room was also decorated in detail, in the same art-deco style which corresponds with the hotel’s lobby.

All of the furniture in the room was special and stylish – a king-size bed that was super comfortable decorated with a modernly designed canopy, with pineapple shaped lamps from copper on both bed stands; a spacious living room with a huge and comfortable yellow sofa, a beautiful armchair and treats that waited for us on the coffee table that was a combination of three round tables in various sizes and heights.

The desk in the room, which was converted on the morning of the wedding to a rich mimosa bar, was equipped with a powerful Bluetooth speaker which was very useful during the preparations.

The best thing about this suite was undoubtedly the curtains which opened and closed at the touch of a button – it was especially made for spoiled people.

The bathroom looked like it was taken from a luxurious palace – it was particularly large, with the floor to wall entirely covered with high quality marble and it was divided into three area: a bathroom, a rain shower and in the center a huge, white bathtub, and most importantly –two vanities for each partner {it was a dream come true!}.

I also really liked the luxurious beauty items that were manufactured with a great and special scent for the hotel, and were arranged beautifully on a cart that I would be very happy to steal and take home

And of course the suite had a fully stocked mini-bar, a safe and free WiFi.

The only three things that bothered me about the way the room looked were the TV, which was placed on a beautiful cabinet across the bed – but the entire back was exposed, and with the attention to detail I found in this hotel, I would expect there to be some kind of cover for the back; the second thing were all the plants on the balcony, which were mostly yellow and tired looking – probably because of the two day heat-wave in Israel the week we stayed at the hotel – so it's kind of forgivable; And last, the fact that the whole HaYarkon area is currently under construction kind of interfered with the whole beach-view idea {because of the cranes we saw looking down the balcony} – luckily, that was not really noisy and all of the windows in our room were completely soundproof anyways.

Hotel Facilities

Unlike other boutique hotels I stayed at in the past, that don’t offer much beyond the lobby and the guest rooms in the hotel, the Brown Beach House ensures that their guests won’t be bored, even if they don’t really want to leave the hotel.

The hotel’s spa is spread over an indoor area, including a relaxation room with lounge chairs in front of a soothing waterfall and a corner with tea and champagne, showers and treatment rooms, and outdoor area with a wooden deck, palm trees and plants, lounge chairs and an extra-large Jacuzzi.

The hotel’s sweet restaurant, “Flamingo Café”, is only open for breakfast {from 7:00 until 13:00}, but they plan on starting to offer a kosher dairy lunch menu soon.

And the Crème de la crème – the fabulous “Flamingo Bar” attracts not only hotel guests but also the city’s residents.

Unfortunately we didn’t have a chance to sip a cocktail at the bar because we were so exhausted from the arrangements at the end of the first day, and the only thing we wanted to do was to fill up the Jacuzzi in the room, play pleasant music and sip some wine before going to bed; but there’s no doubt that we’ll stop by the hotel next time we get to Tel Aviv just to make sure we didn’t miss anything! 😉

Breakfast

The hotel offers a kosher dairy breakfast in the hotel’s restaurant “Flamingo Café”.

It’s not the usual Israeli buffet – here you order one dish from the restaurant’s breakfast menu and you could order an unlimited number of cold and hot drinks.

Among their dishes you could find : Eggs Benedict, Shakshuka, French toast, and of course, a classic Israeli breakfast.

If the hotel’s lobby leans towards the 50’s glam, the restaurant itself is designed with much more tropical vibes that give you the feeling that you’re sitting in a restaurant in Miami Beach back in the day – bamboo chairs, white flowing curtains, wooden ceiling fans, flamingo prints, and a lot of big and small green plants.

The restaurant’s service was excellent, and they served us our coffee super fast {exactly what we needed after a night full of alcohol}, and the food was tasty and fresh but not so sophisticated – we ordered the Israeli breakfast {“Flamingo Morning”} and the spicy Shakshuka {“Flamingo Shakshuka”}.

The price per night at the hotel depends on the room, the reservation time {mid-week or weekend} and of course the season – but there’s no doubt that it’s a very prestigious hotel that gives you great value for your money.

Additionally, the hotel offers a perfect wedding package which is perfect for couples who want some pampering the night before and after their wedding, which includes a spa treatment for two, treats sent to the room, a discount at the hotel’s bar and more. It’s definitely worth checking out!
