Thailand : Sri Panwa Phuket : A Piece of Heaven in Phuket

It’s about the tenth time I’m sitting in front of my laptop with my head flooding with experiences, memories, landscapes, flavors and scents, and I just can’t seem to find the right words to describe all of the wonderful things I could say about this magical tropical resort which was the highlight of our honeymoon.

How can I even begin describing a place that’s more beautiful than words can describe?

It’s funny how sometimes writer’s block can arise exactly when you have so much to say.

Sri Panwa Phuket is everything we could’ve wished for our honeymoon, and more. The huge resort is a tropical and luxurious oasis, with endless romance and a young and lively atmosphere – it’s the perfect combination, full of pampering and the famous Thai service.

No wonder that at the end of our short stay at the resort we didn’t want to leave.

I have to warn you – if you continue reading this post, chances are that you won’t be able to get this hotel out of your head; and worse – you won’t be able to stop comparing between this hotel and all the other hotels you’ll visit, no matter how beautiful they may be.

Yes, it’s just that good.

Let's Cut To The Chase – All of the Things You Want to Know About This Resort

LOCATION

Like {almost} all of the luxurious and great resorts in Thailand, the Sri Panwa Phuket isn’t located on one of the main and crowded beaches on the island.

When you say Phuket, most people think about Patong beach or Karon beach, but in my opinion, the most beautiful hotels and beaches in Thailand aren’t walking distance from the crowded and touristy beaches.

The true gems of the touristy islands of Thailand {as I learned during my last trip to Koh Samui and Koh Phangan, and applied them during this trip in Phuket and Krabi} are actually in the isolated and quiet areas.

The Sri Panwa resort is located in a magical location like this – from the top of Panwa bay which looks over a breathtaking view of the small islands around it and the wide Andaman Sea.

By the way, this amazing view can be seen from any spot in the resort – from the pools, restaurants and of course the rooms, suites and villas.

Don’t let the distant location bother you, right at the entrance to the resort you’ll find stands with local street food, a few restaurants and stores. If you still want to get to one of the popular beaches, or to Phuket Town, you can always take a taxi which won’t kill all of your savings 😉

But to be honest – most chances are that you won’t want to leave the hotel before you have to check out…

DESIGN

When we chose hotels for this trip, it was important for us to choose special and designed hotels, that managed to maintain the local authenticity of the area they were located in.

Sri Panwa was definitely the most beautiful hotel I stayed at – not only does it match the unique shapes and colors that characterize the island and brings the exotic beaches into the hotel, it also combines them in an extraordinary way with all of the newest and most expensive elements that make the stay at this hotel the most pampering ever.

The design concept of the resort is tropical with a modern, rich and young look – on one hand they use natural materials like wood, concrete, marble and stone and a repetitive geometric motif of lines that goes with the leaves’ veins in the tropical jungle around the hotel; On the other hand, the design is clean, modern and incorporates electronic products and modern technology, like an advanced lighting system in each room, iPods and an amazing surround system.

If they would’ve told me that the hotel opened this year I wouldn’t have been surprised at all. The whole design of the hotel looks like it’s based on pictures from destinations you must visit Pinterest boards. Surprising considering the fact that the hotel exists over a decade!

SERVICE AND ATMOSPHERE

Sri Panwa is a famous resort that exists a long time and attracts not only local and international celebs, but also members of the local royal family, and that’s the atmosphere you get there – luxurious and regal.

Just like the atmosphere, the service at the hotel is outstanding and begins even before arriving at the hotel – before we got to Sri Panwa, we stayed at the Amatara resort next to it, and after checking out, a nice car with Sri Panwa’s logo on it was waiting for us and made sure to help us transfer to the other resort with no additional fees {and I’m almost positive that they provide a similar service from the Phuket airport}.

This resort takes service one step ahead, and besides the standard service expected from a good hotel in Thailand {smiling staff members, traditional check-in including small towels to freshen up and a cool, refreshing drink, and clean rooms}, from the first second a butler, was assigned to us, and we were able to call her anytime with any question or problem.

In addition, we were served cold water bottles with the hotel’s logo wherever we went to without even asking, and – sunscreen products, tanning products and aloe vera were offered to the hotel guests around the pools for free, and no less important – new shuttle cars were available 24/7 within a few minutes’ notice to drive us to any destination we wanted to get to in the huge resort {fast and professional service that’s really not obvious, from experience.}.

The service and atmosphere at Sri Panwa were the closest to royal you could get from a hotel.

THE PENTHOUSE

Wow… how can I even begin describing the amazing penthouse room we got at Sri Panwa?

I could say that it’s humongous {140 square meters!!}, designed to the last detail, completely equipped, has a crazy bathroom with a double vanity, a huge shower and a bathtub I wanted to steal {and don’t even get me started on the robes…}.

And the fact that four steps away from the huge round bed in the middle of the room there was an exit to an infinity pool overlooking breathtaking views.

I can also say that there’s a designed SMEG refrigerator filled with candies, snacks, popsicles, soft drinks, beers and refreshing mint-scented towels, which gets refilled daily at no cost, and that the room itself faces the sunset so in the evening you could sit by your private pool with a beer in hand and look at the romantic view.

And I can’t ignore the huge living room area with a sofa that was more comfortable than many beds I’ve slept on in my life…

I can talk about the innovative lighting system that allows a change of atmosphere with a push of a button and controls the curtains in the room, and about the iPods that were equipped with playlists by different music styles and a high-quality Boss speaker.

I’m sure you’re looking at the pictures and saying to yourself “wow, this place looks crazy!”.

The only problem is that my words, pictures and videos we were excited to take and send our family {you also do it, admit it  😉 } couldn’t pass on the feeling we had when we were in our room.

With such an amazing room, it’s no surprise that the hotel’s main pool was almost always empty.

RESORT’S FACILITIES

Besides the amazing infinity pool in each room, the resort offers 3 additional pools, just as beautiful.

The biggest and most beautiful one in my opinion was in the Habita area which opened recently, which was also where our penthouse was. This huge pool is surrounded by green lawns, vegetation bursting from all sides, waterfalls and secluded seating areas which include lounge chairs and bean bags that can swallow you all day long

I especially loved the pool’s unique color, giving the water a deep turquoise color which simulates the magical waters of the beaches around the island!

In the main pool complex there are two new restaurants – Hot Box, a BBQ restaurant, and Baba Chino, a Chinese restaurant.

The second pool, in the Jetty area, is a small infinity pool that’s close to the hotel’s private and secluded beach, where you can also enjoy snorkeling and water sports.

Baba Pool Club is the area with the third pool, which is actually an astoundingly beautiful pond, where an additional three of the resort’s restaurants are – Baba Iki Japanese restaurant, the cocktail bar, Pool Lounge, with high quality drinks and the Italian BabaQ, where the hotel’s breakfast is served.

As amazing as all of the resort’s facilities are, the Baba Nest Bar is definitely the hotel’s crème de la crème.

This small and unique bar that was chosen this year as one of the ten best bars in the world, is a lookout point with a 360-degree view of the Andaman Islands, and offers a totally different style of accommodation than expected from a bar.

The seating at the bar is on big pillows next to low tables that are scattered on the wooden floor, and the whole bar is surrounded by an infinity pool – the most chilled out ever!

Even though it’s not located in the most central area of Phuket, this bar attracts thousands of tourists, including those who aren’t staying at the resort, so it’s very important to reserve a table at least a month in advance.

The resort guests get priority and can reserve a table a week before arriving, but unfortunately, from all of the excitement, I totally forgot and we missed our chance to sip cocktails along with Mexican tapas   I can’t say that it prevented us from standing on the amazing rooftop for around 15 minutes and soak up the place’s electrifying vibe, but if you’re planning on visiting Phuket, do yourself a favor and reserve a table!

Besides all of these the resort also offers basic facilities like an excellent gym and a pampering spa, and more special ones like a Thai wrestling arena and tennis courts.

BREAKFAST

You have no idea how much I waited and was looking forward to breakfast at this resort from the second we checked in.

The anticipation grew stronger after the pizza {the best I had during the trip} and the excellent cocktails we ordered in the evening at the hotel’s Baba Pool Club complex, which is where they serve breakfast, too.

As a breakfasts groupie, I could’ve bet that the resorts’ breakfast would be the best I had on this trip.

Luckily, I didn’t do it, because I don’t like losing…

sri_panwa_phuket_villas_resort_thailand_luxury_honeymoon

Okay, before you’ll think that this is another case of a stunning hotel with mediocre food {like this one}, I want to explain one thing – the fact that this meal didn’t meet the high standards I had for it really doesn’t mean that it’s not good, it just means that all the other features of the resort made me continually raise the standards and unfortunately breakfast didn’t meet them.

What I mean here is that breakfast wasn’t very different from other hotels we stayed at during the trip. True, all the hotels were good and most of them were really excellent, but none of them were as amazing as the Sri Panwa, so I expected the breakfast here to be over the top.

So what did we have for breakfast? Like at all of the resorts we've been to, the Sri Panwa had a big buffet offering Western dishes {sliced vegetables, cheeses, sausages, hot dogs, beans, hash browns, cereal, etc.} and Thai and Asian dishes that are customary to eat in the morning {curry dishes, soups, stir-fried dishes, dumplings, etc.}.

The buffet was rich and they served a wide variety, but like I said – they didn’t offer much more than other resorts.

sri_panwa_phuket_villas_resort_thailand_luxury_honeymoon

Besides the buffet, you can order dishes from the breakfast menu {unlimited of course} includes eggs {omelet, fried eggs, poached eggs, eggs Benedict and more}, sweet dishes {waffles, French toast and pancakes} and hot and cold drinks.

No need to wait in line for an omelet or pancakes? Yes please!

This service isn’t available at all hotels, and there’s no doubt that this is a higher level of service.

sri_panwa_phuket_villas_resort_thailand_luxury_honeymoon

Why was I still a bit disappointed from the breakfast? The coffee wasn’t great at all and some of the dishes just weren’t good enough.

Again, I was expecting a perfect breakfast just like the resort itself.

PRICE

Sri Panwa is a very luxurious resort, at the highest level I got to experience {and I’ve stayed at some good hotels in my life…} and its price is in accordance.

There’s no doubt that lodging in Thailand is significantly cheaper than lodging in many parts of the world {Israel, Western Europe and the United States, for example} and you could find very good hotels for $150 per night {by the way, prices in Thailand increase every year}, but if you want to stay at a hotel with an exceptional level of quality, design, service orientation and experience, I think it’s worth booking at least one night in this tropical paradise that is the most ‘the lifestyle of the rich & the famous’ if you're planning a trip to Phuket

  1. Hi,

Brilliant! Loving the feel of Sri Panwa.

Phuket is one of my fave islands on earth; Bali the other 😉 Love the vibe at the Southern tip of the island by Rawai so I imagine how it feels in this more remote area of the island. I often spent afternoons lazing on the unpopulated, east coast of Phuket in Rawai, enjoying the kohs/islands in the distance with a set up much like your inspired shots above. Love Phuket. So much. So you betcha I’m adding this luxury resort to my next ‘ket trip itinerary. Missing it much.

    Thanks for sharing 🙂

    Ryan

    1. Yeah Phuket is so great! especially the less touristic shores – they’re absolutely stunning and so relaxing.
The Sri Panwa is a must stay for your next time!

btw i’m dying to go to Bali someday – it’s definitely on my bucket list 🙂

  2. Sweetie,

    This place looks incredibly gorgeous!!

I’m so glad to hear that you had such a great time in Thailand!

    Much love, Tina
