Last month I went to the Dead Sea for the first time as part of my job as a social media photographer for the largest hotel chain in Israel, Fattal {you can see my photos for the chain here and here}.
I have no idea how I managed to miss the Dead Sea as an Israeli, but there’s no doubt that the fact that until the age of 27 I didn’t dip in the Dead Sea is really a questionable achievement, especially for someone who really likes to travel.
For some reason, the Dead Sea never really attracted me. Maybe it was because my parents didn’t really like the destination and they never took me there, maybe it's the fear of the salt water that threatens to burn every hole or small incision in the body, and maybe it’s because of the smell of the sulfur that I remember well from traveling to Taba for a family vacation… Either way, when the moment came to go for two days of filming at the Dead Sea I wasn’t very excited – my plan was to arrive, take photographs and go back home immediately after the filming.
And then I got to the Dead Sea and everything I thought about the place changed. I immediately understood why people from all over the world make their way to the lowest place in the world, and even celebrities from abroad don’t miss a quick visit during their limited time in Israel. Suddenly I didn’t notice the sulfuric smell at all, and only waited for the moment I could enter the salty light blue water.
Even if you put aside the wonderful healing qualities of this natural treasure, which is rightly recognized worldwide, it’s impossible not to fall in love with the unique landscape that combines bright and sparkling turquoise water against the desert scenery and the quietness that surrounds you.
I got to the Dead Sea for work and didn’t have time to enjoy a real vacation there, but now that I’m aware of this natural treasure that’s right under my nose I have no doubt that I’ll return again, even if it’s only for one day of body and soul care.
After taking the photographs in the hotel, just before we returned home, I decided that there wasn’t a chance that I wasn’t going to take advantage of the fact that I was in one of the most beautiful places on earth for a quick session of outfit photos 🙂
Although it wasn’t planned, but I really liked the combination that was created between this very yellow and bright outfit and the calm background of the landscapes of the Dead Sea.
