As much as I love high heels and the flattering silhouette they give the body {if you know how to walk in them properly, of course 😉 }, during the day, I always prefer to go for the more comfortable option. In recent years, the comfort trend got hype in the fashion world, especially when it comes to shoes. If last year it was the white sneakers that featured in all the prestigious fashion shows and magazines, this year there are new stars in the world of footwear.

Meet the mules, elegant clogs that are fun and easy to wear.

{As you’ve probably seen in Instagram and in my last posts about Greece, I've adopted them warmly 🙂 }

The flat mules are actually the upgraded version of clogs, they’re open in the heel area and are closed in front and come in a variety of styles, textures and heights – from flat and comfortable versions to high heels that suit the most festive occasions.

The status of the flat mules, which were a symbol of a prestigious status at the beginning of their way in ancient Rome, has gone up and down over the years. At the beginning of the 20th century they were considered very inferior and were identified with the world of prostitution, while in the 1950’s they were on top when Hollywood stars, and starring Marilyn Monroe, turned them into the “it shoe” of the decade. In the seventies and the eighties, they came mainly in the form of Scandinavian clogs and in the nineties, they took the form of clogs with exposed toes. Let's put it this way – it was only a matter of time before we would see them again taking over the fashion world…

I love them mainly in the flat version, not only because it’s the most comfortable version, but because they go with almost every outfit… Summer dresses, shorts or pants that reach just above the ankle, skinny pants and bell-bottoms {which, by the way, are also slowly and carefully making their way back to stores}.
