Zakynthos, also known as Zante, is not the first island that comes to mind when picturing a luxury holiday in Greece.
Although it is one of the more well-known Greek islands, it is often associated with wild nightlife and as a destination for teenagers rather than for luxury vacations.
When Daniel and I were invited to stay at the stunning Lesante Blu Exclusive Beach Resort in the village of Tragaki, on the island’s east coast, I of course couldn’t help doing a brief search to learn about the island. Apart from the “young” attractions the city is known for, including nightclubs, lots of parties and alcohol, and pretty cheap hotels, I discovered that there are quite a few amazing places worth visiting while vacationing on the island. From stunning beaches and breathtaking views, through charming little villages and a colorful city, to a huge nature reserve for giant turtles.
We spent four full days in Zakynthos, and carefully planned our schedule to map out everything we wanted to see and do while we were on the island, but since our hotel was greater than we expected {which, by the way, is for adults only so it was especially relaxing and quiet}, we didn’t end up making it to all of the destinations on our virtual map.
You know what they say, life is what happens when you’re busy making plans.
I don’t usually like to skip going to the places that I dream of seeing, but this time, despite all of our plans, we were so happy and didn’t want to leave the insane infinity pool at the hotel, and preferred to spend our last day on the island sunbathing 🙂
Another reason to go back to this beautiful island.
I will soon publish a detailed post about the hotel, followed by a post about the amazing attractions on the Greek island, but until then – here are 20 photos from our time on the island that will make you want to indulge in your own vacation in Zakynthos.
