I don’t know what the breakfast genre has that attracts me so much.

If you ask me what my favorite meal of the day is, there’s no doubt I’ll choose it over and over again.

In this post I spoke a bit more about my fetish for breakfasts {and I also recommended an amazing breakfast – so you really shouldn’t miss it}.

As someone who orders the classic Israeli breakfast for lunch and dinner, too {basically whenever it’s possible}, I decided I wanted to mix it up a bit and order a breakfast that’s a little different – the kind that will make me feel like I’m in Europe {at least until the next time I fly there… one month away, but who’s counting 😉 }

I came across DA DA & DA completely by chance through Instagram and photos, not only of their food, but the place itself, made me want to eat there before I even peeked at the menu.

This is exactly why Daniel and I took advantage of our weekly visit in Tel Aviv, and we started our fun day out with an absolutely amazing breakfast DA DA & DA offers – and I mean AMAZING.

But before I even start talking about the food, I have to talk about the place itself and the incredible atmosphere there.

The restaurant's great location made me feel like I was abroad before we even sat down; the restaurant is located on the lower level of the French Institute building, INSTITUT FRANCAIS, on the charming Rothschild Street and has three wide interior spaces and a relatively large outdoor area.

We chose to sit outside, because you can’t skip taking advantage of a sunny day in mid-winter – especially when it has such a European look, with all of the tables and chairs facing the beautiful plaza.

And the music – just wow! The perfect playlist of Jazz and Soul music – with a lot of Frank Sinatra – You tell me if there’s a more fun way to eat breakfast!!

The second we sat down the waitress greeted us and set menus on the table. Those who know me know that I really, really love restaurants that don’t let their customers wait, so we started off on the right foot.
After a briefly reviewing the breakfast menu, Daniel decided to order poached eggs on Belgian waffles {he still dreams about the breakfast he ate in Brussels} and I decided to go with the classic Eggs Benedict and a small cappuccino.

All of the breakfasts there are served with a bread basket that includes two types of great sourdough bread {wrapped in parchment paper}, crackers with sesame and nigella and small pastries that were all baked there, along with chunks of butter {also made there}  wrapped up in the form of hard candies.

Their presentation was lovely and the bread was fabulous!

There's nothing like fresh bread accompanied by amazing butter… I really don’t need more than that! I was beginning to regret we ordered two dishes instead of two bread baskets….

Of course this feeling disappeared the moment they placed our dishes on the table, although I did regret ordering two dishes – they were just so big, so we didn’t have room for dessert, and to go by my gut feeling – I have no doubt that their desserts are equally amazing.

Both dishes we ordered were relatively similar, because when you really want to have an amazing meal, not many things can top poached eggs in Hollandaise sauce.

So after we made a decision not to share two different dishes this time {happens to us almost every time we eat at a Thai restaurant – we both insist on ordering Pad Thai} we ordered two dishes that are almost identical – apart from the substrate the eggs were on – mine were on a perfect brioche bread and Daniel’s were on a Belgian Waffle {which in my opinion could have been in the toaster for another minute to get the desired crunchiness} – the dishes were almost completely identical.

But I'm not complaining … You can’t say we didn’t scarf down both dishes 😉

Daniel asked them to prepare his eggs a little more “well done” than classic poached eggs – and they got the eggs just right, and I got perfectly poached eggs.
The rest of the ingredients used for these dishes – the Hollandaise, the spinach and the bacon were just superb and made fabulously.

The small salad they served alongside the meal was slightly different from the typical salads served with an Israeli breakfast, and in addition to the usual cucumbers and tomatoes, they served radishes, chives, broccoli and pickled cauliflower that added a kick.
I don’t know if this is the salad I would have chosen along with this type of meal… maybe some kind of interesting lettuce salad would have been better with this dish.

In a nutshell, if you’re into breakfasts a-la Europe, and you can’t give up on freshly baked bread, this is the next place you should try
