Dried fruits, and lots of them!

As somebody who loves dried fruits all year round and stocks dates, figs, prunes and different types of nuts and almonds in the pantry, there’s no doubt that this is the holiday for me

In honor of the holiday, I decided to post my recipe for homemade no-bake energy bites, that are all natural and vegan – and not only is it really easy to make them, they are also super delicious.

They’re not only MUCH better than the industrial ones, but contrary to the false promises about energy and health that appear on the snacks you buy {that contain a large amount of added sugars, fats, and of course preservatives}, my homemade snacks are actually healthy and give the body amazing energy.

A second before we move on to the recipe, let’s understand why these magical energy bars are so good for you…

They have dried fruits :

Dried fruits sometime get a bad reputation and people stay away from them since they are considered very fattening.

So it’s true – as a result of the drying process of the fruit, the fruit’s sugar concentration rises and the calorific value increases – ten times more than the calorific value of the fresh fruit with the equivalent weight; but it really isn’t a reason to permanently remove dried fruits from the menu.

The opposite, it’s very important to consume dried fruits on a daily basis because they are crammed with vitamins and minerals like zinc, calcium, iron and potassium.

They are also rich in antioxidants and fiber, which regulate the stomach’s activity, help provide a feeling of satiety and reduce the risk of colon cancer in adulthood.

They have oatmeal :

This grain has a high nutritional value and low caloric value – perfect, right? Wait till you hear what it can do to your body…

Oatmeal is very rich in vitamins, especially from the vitamin B group, folic acid, zinc, iron, calcium and more. It has a low glycemic value and therefore it’s ideal for healthy weight loss and for maintaining balanced sugar levels.

Just like the dried fruits, oatmeal is also rich in fiber, which gives a feeling of satiety and helps maintaining the digestive system and improves its performance, it’s good for proper digestion and for constipation. In addition, consuming oatmeal improves your mood because it’s relaxing and is an antidepressant.

They have almonds :

Almonds are rich in nutrients that lower the “bad” cholesterol levels (LDL), like monounsaturated fat, magnesium, calcium, iron, vitamin E, potassium and quality proteins.

In addition, almonds create a feeling of fullness because of the fiber they have and a new study found that they contribute to reducing fat in the abdomen and legs, and even reduce circumferences, and therefore are very effective during diets despite their high calorific value.

They have Chia seeds :

Chia seeds are considered a food with phenomenal health benefits that help improve the proper functioning of the body.

Thanks to the fact that gel surrounds the seeds when they come in contact with liquid, they contribute to the optimal absorption of calcium and vitamins that need a fatty surrounding and maintain a high level of moisture in the body {excellent during the winter}.

In addition, the seeds help the inner cleansing process of digestive system, help prevent constipation and create a controlled-release of carbohydrates that helps maintain high energy levels over time.

They have coconut oil :

Coconut oil has many health benefits that result from the special structure of the fatty acids it contains, like: lowers the bad cholesterol, helps with weight loss, strengthens the immune system, balances blood sugar levels, a wonderful source of energy, and more.

They have dark chocolate :

Dark chocolate is tasty, that’s obvious, but it’s also good for your health as long as you eat it moderately, because it’s very rich in nutrients, like magnesium and zinc, it contains antioxidants, it reduces stress and even reduces the chances of heart attacks.

So come on – it’s recipe time>>>

◄◄ Magical Energy Bars – For Hedonists Only! ►►

Preparation Time – 10 minutes.

Cooling Time – 60 minutes.

Quantity – 24 pieces.

Ingredients

For the mixture :

  • 8 Medjool dates, pitted.
  • 6 prunes, pitted.
  • 1/3 cup of oat oatmeal.
  • 1/3 cup of almonds.
  • 1/4 cup of ground coconut {no added sugar}.
  • 2 tablespoons of chia seeds.
  • 2 tablespoons of coconut oil, room temperature.

For the decoration :

  • 1 dark chocolate package with a high cocoa percentage {I used 70%}.
  • 1 cup of a dried fruit mixture.

Instructions

1. Prepare the mixture – put all of the ingredients for the mixture in a food processor for about a minute until all of the ingredients are mixed well and evenly.

2. Divide the mixture into equal parts in a silicone mold, press it down with your fingers and put in the freezer for 30 minutes.

3. In the meantime – melt the chocolate in a bain-marie, until it becomes completely smooth, without any lumps.

4. Drizzle about a teaspoon of chocolate on each cube in the mold.

5. Decorate with the dried fruits mix, and put in the freezer for another 30 minutes.

6. Remove from the freezer and take out of the mold.

7. You can serve it immediately or store in the refrigerator in a sealed dish
