20 Photos That Will Make you Want to Visit the Maldives

The Maldives are certainly the epitome of the perfect tropical vacation – a never-ending sea in a million shades of turquoise, white sand dotted with coconut trees, and mesmerizing sunsets. It is no surprise that it has recently become the most desirable destination for honeymoon vacations…  Daniel and I went on our honeymoon four years ago, but who said a honeymoon can only happen once in a lifetime? 😋

As part of our annual big trip,(that started in Thailand – you are welcome to read more posts on our trip to Thailand) we were lucky to enjoy a memorable vacation this year at one of the most amazing destinations in the world. The Maldives, located in the Indian Ocean, is a group of over a thousand unusual islands known as Atolls. The atolls, unlike ordinary islands, are in fact huge coral groups that split into countless coral islands surrounded by a lagoon and clear turquoise water. Yes, it is just as crazy as it sounds! I have seen endless images and videos of the Maldives over the past few years, but it was only when we first flew over these wonderful picturesque waters that I truly realized how wonder it was.

Our Maldives vacation lasted eight days that felt like a dream. We couldn’t get enough of the white sandy beaches and turquoise waters as we soaked up rays of the sun, indulged in calming massages, gazed at crazy sunsets, rode bicycles through the jungle, devoured delicious food, and enjoyed the colorful fish and little sharks visible beneath the clear water. I even got over my fear and attempted at snorkeling {in the shallow water, by the steps, but still! 😅}. Although we had some days when the weather was a little less in our favor {tropical weather, after all, is hard to avoid}, but we made the most out of them by taking long baths and cuddling in bed.

In other words, you can say we went on a second honeymoon  😍

We heard from lots of people that said after a couple of days the Maldives it can get a little boring, but honestly, if I could stay an additional week I wouldn’t think twice!

First of all, though I enjoy attraction-filled urban vacations and running around from morning to night, this was precisely the sort of vacation my body and mind needed at the end of such a busy year of work and lots of transitions.

Second of all, we stayed at two hotels during our short visit: the first – Soneva Fushi, an eco-luxury resort in the heart of an amazing tropical jungle surrounded by bright blue water; and the second – Faarufshui, a prestigious nordic-minimalist resort with on-water villas. While both hotels are set in the Maldives, they were very different from each other, and both were amazing, granting us two very different opportunities and experiences in the Maldives. In short – we were not bored for a single moment ☺️

You can imagine that we couldn't hold ourselves back from taking photos throughout our entire vacation {and when I say couldn't hold back I mean thousands of photos 🙈} Which is why selecting 20 of them to be shared in this post was not an easy task. I will soon publish posts on each of the resorts we stayed in during our trip to paradise, but for now, here are the first 20 pictures from our vacation in the Maldives {By the way, you are more than welcome to click here to see the special highlights I dedicated to our trip on my Instagram account}.
