I discovered the Italian Aperol Spritz cocktail during our last trip to Switzerland.
It’s not that I haven’t heard about it in the past, since it exists in almost every bar and restaurant in Israel, too, but in Zurich it really stood out with its orangey color in the urban landscape during the late afternoon hours.
This cocktail had a pretty tight competition with another Spritz cocktail made with white wine, soda and ice.
It was also very refreshing, but as a Campari lover – The Aperol Spritz was much more to my taste.
So if last summer my regular go-to cocktail was the Frozen Orange Campari, after our trip to Switzerland you can say that I betrayed it with its younger and easygoing brother, characterized by a lower alcohol percentage {11% compared to Campari containing at least 20%} and tastes less bitter and more sweet.
The lightness of the Aperol Spritz and its relatively low alcohol percentages make me want to drink it in every situation possible.
Before, after and during a meal.
Hanging out with friends alongside the snacks.
At the beach and by the pool.
Well, why shouldn't I? ☺
If you are a Campari fan and you want to shake things up a bit, or if Campari is too strong for your taste and you want a lighter cocktail – Aperol Spritz is THE cocktail for you.
It’s so easy to make it! You just have to make sure that your house is stocked with all of the ingredients at any given moment 😉
