Puffy eyes and dark under eye circles.
Oh, the horror.
Who here doesn’t personally know this disturbing cosmetic problem which becomes more and more noticeable as you get older?
The look of our skin around our eyes is affected from unhealthy lifestyles including sleep deprivation, not drinking enough water, smoking and having too many caffeinated drinks like coffee, black tea and energy drinks; additional reasons are processes the body goes through while getting older and sometimes because of different diseases {thyroid or kidneys, for example}.
After publishing my post about my three favorite products to refresh skin while traveling, many of you got especially excited from the soothing eye compresses by Estée Lauder {and rightly so!} and you emailed me a request for a similar product for daily use, that’s more economical, for the treatment of puffy eyes and dark under eye circles.
There’s no doubt that Estée Lauder’s product is perfect for traveling because it comes in disposable packages and you can fetch it quickly a few minutes before getting off the plane. But when it comes to daily use, this whole thing becomes way too expensive.
I took on the challenge – I checked and tried natural formulas and I managed to make a mask that you can easily make at home and that works just as well and the store-bought ones!
These excellent masks are great for reducing under eye puffiness, they tighten the skin, provide moisture and lighten the skin we always try to cover with correctors and concealers.
THESE ARE THE THINGS YOU’LL NEED TO MAKE THE MASKS :

HONEY
Honey contains many antioxidants and helps maintain the moisture in the skin which all help refresh tired and dry skin.

GREEN TEA
Green tea contains antioxidants and plenty of tannins, Vitamin C and vitamins from the B group – all of these help calm irritations, reduce swelling and reduce the fluids around the eyes.

CUCUMBER
This is not just a myth – cucumbers have anti-inflammatory characteristics and a cooling effect that reduces the swelling of the skin and the bags under eyes. Additionally, they have the ability to lighten skin, making your skin smoother and lighter.

ROUND MAKEUP REMOVER PADS
These will absorb the excellent formula and they are the easiest to place around the eye area.

ALOE VERA
Aloe Vera contains plenty of antioxidants like beta carotene, Vitamin C and E which improve the skin’s natural elasticity and flexibility.

COCONUT OIL
Coconut oil helps keeps skin smooth, soft and moisturized and this way it helps prevent premature aging and wrinkles around the eyes.

THESE ARE THE AMOUNTS YOU’LL NEED TO MAKE AROUND 30 PADS :
2 cucumbers, peeled
Half a cup of green tea, cold
1 tablespoon of honey
1 tablespoon of coconut oil
1 half tablespoon of aloe vera
AND HOW DO YOU ACTUALLY MAKE IT ?
It’s the most simple ever!
Put all of the ingredients into a blender and turn it on until you get a smooth texture.
Transfer the solution into a comfortable dish.
Soak the pads in the solution and squeeze excess liquid out with the palms of your hands.
Transfer the pads in a neat way into a plastic bag {I use ones similar to these} and put them in the freezer.
All Done! 🙂
Before using it, remove two pads, let them defrost a few minutes and just place them on your eyes for 15 minutes.
