The city of Tokyo has been at the top of my bucket list since my days as a teenager Harajuku lover {Japanese street fashion}, with a special affection for everything Kawaii {“cute” in Japanese} and an emphasis on Hello Kitty.
Although over a decade has passed since then, and my personal style has changed a lot over the years, but I’ll always have a very warm spot in my heart for the Japanese street fashion {and the suitcase I brought back home completely filled with Hello Kitty items from this crazy trip in Japan is proves it}.
This year, I finally decided to fulfill my dream and check off Japan from the list of destinations I must visit at least once in my life.
I was fortunate enough to celebrate my 28th birthday in Tokyo, the city that symbolizes all that is childish and cute in the Japanese culture and the fact that I, just like them, really don’t want to grow up… Symbolic, huh? 😉
Tokyo managed to live up to all my expectations and every moment we spent in this amazing city felt like a dream I just didn’t want to wake up from.
So, what did we do for 10 full days in this crazy city?
We walked through the mesmerizing streets of the huge metropolis.
We were blinded by the neon lights and giant screens that lit the city until the wee hours of the night.
We crossed the busiest pedestrian crossing in the world {!} – the Shibuya scramble crossing.
We ate a ton of raw fish and fine Japanese meat {but we also sinned with some good old Western food}.
We visited the famous Tsukiji Fish Market.
We fell in love with the lively Shinjuku district.
We went back and forth on the fashionable and sweet Harajuku area {literally – the concentration of sweet things, both to the eye and palate, that you can find there is crazy like the Japanese know how to do!}
We experienced the famous rush hour on the city trains.
We got addicted to the SEGA game machines {and even won some awesome dolls a few times!}
We went window shopping at Ginza.
We visited Asakusa, the ancient city of Tokyo, and the famous Buddhist temple of Sensoji.
We spent an entire day at Disneyland Tokyo – the happiest place in the world.
And mainly, we fell deeply in love with this city, because how could you not?
There is so much to see, so many places to visit and so many things to eat that even 10 days weren’t enough for us and left us with a taste of more.
To make a long story short – Tokyo is by far the coolest city I have ever visited!
