One of the hottest makeup trends in 2016 is strong and bold lips – the kind that can’t be ignored by anyone when you walk into a room.
The trendy look which places our lips in the center is built on a lethal combination of perfect skin, big eyes with long lashes and bold lips.
Honestly – what more do you need?
Estee Lauder launched a new line of 12 lipsticks – PURE COLOR ENVY MATTE LIPSTICK, which seems to be inspired by this trend.
These new lipsticks give lips a bold and matte appearance that really can’t be ignored.
Almost all of the colors in the current collection are rich and saturated with pigments, and I got three shades that I really liked to create the look for this post –
Unattainable – Bold Strawberry
Decisive Poppy – Scarlet Red
Stronger – Vibrant purple
Although these are matte lipsticks, their texture is so creamy and pleasant that for a moment you forget that it’s this type of lipstick.
They don’t dehydrate the lips, and their texture resembles OFRA's excellent Liquid Lipsticks, but as someone who’s not really into liquid lipsticks, there’s no doubt that I liked these lipsticks more.
Besides, look at their packaging ? ? – so luxurious! I especially liked the magnetic cap that closes the lipstick in the most perfect way.
And most importantly? I've never seen red shades that are so resistant – it didn’t move from my lips the whole day! I'm not kidding!
So how do you create this look in three easy steps?
If you're not used to using bold lipsticks and you’re scared of getting an exaggerated and clown-y look > remember, the key word is balance!
Step 1 : Skin
Your face should be a clean canvas for the dominant lipstick, so it’s very important to give your skin a uniform look on the one hand, but light and not cakey on the other hand.
You should use BB Cream {like this} or makeup with a light texture {like this}, that fades into your skin without making it seem heavy, and on days your skin rebellious, I recommend using concealer on the dark under-eye circles and on pimples to give you the perfect coverage.
You should skip the blush, but if you can’t see yourself without a little color on your cheeks – use a very gentle shade or just a little highlighter {like this one} on your cheekbones.
Step 2 : Eyes
In the area of the eyes it’s also important to keep a clean and fresh look – remember that the focus is on your lips.
Skip the eyeshadow and emphasize your lashes to create a big-eyes and doll-like look {this mascara does an excellent job}.
Step 3 : Lips
First of all, prep your lips with this peeling, which helps get rid of the dryness and peeling and nourishes the lips at the same time. Wait until the oil is completely absorbed in the lips or remove the excess with a tissue and only then apply the lipstick.
When using bold lipsticks, you should use a matching lip liner to maintain accuracy, but even if you don’t have a liner {because with so many lipsticks – our bank account will collapse if we get a liner to match each shade…}, accurately outline your lips using the lipstick’s tip and then fill the lips in. You should also buy a good brush to apply the lipstick accurately and help fill in the lips.
If you missed a bit, you can always fix the edges with skin-color concealer and a small brush 😉
A tiny but important tip is to put a finger in your mouth and quickly pull it out right after you have finished applying your makeup – it may sound a little strange but it will prevent excess lipstick from smearing on your teeth {Granny-style}.
