REVLON Insta-Fix Makeup – Product Review

There are two products in my makeup bag that I can’t compromise on – concealer and foundation.

When I say “compromise”, I mean to buy a product that isn’t the best in the field.

You’ll rarely find drugstore foundation in my makeup bag {unless there was another tempting sale at the drugstore..}.

The reason for that could be that unfortunately I wasn’t blessed with perfect skin {Thanks, Dad ;)} and adolescence was very, how should I call it – challenging – in terms of acne.

Now, my skin is relatively balanced {after all, I’m 26 years old}, and although a few new friends appear on my face every now and then,  I don’t use foundation on a daily basis – only for photoshoots or when I go out in the evenings.

Last week I got to review Revlon’s new foundation stick, Insta-Fix Makeup, and I was very pleasantly surprised!

I've heard a lot about the fact that Revlon is a drugstore brand that’s known for their foundation’s quality and resistance, but I must confess that I've never tried it myself.

So after trying it out for a week I can finally say why I think the Insta-Fix is simply an excellent product :

Price – while high-quality foundation costs around 27$, the Insta-Fix shelf price is half the price!.

Additionally, like any drugstore product, there is no doubt that the Insta-Fix will participate in drugstore sales so if you catch a good sale, then you could get it for an amazing price.

Coverage – foundation that comes in the form of a stick {creamy} typically have a moderate to high coverage level.

The Insta-Fix meets this quality very well and allows the build-up of the coverage in accordance with the look of the skin – applying a single-layer will give you medium coverage, but you can certainly build it up by applying more of the product on problematic areas.

Feeling on the skin – the Insta-Fix is easy to apply and blend in the skin. I don’t like to use makeup brushes, so I apply it with my fingers, and I was able to do it quickly and without too much tinkering to get to a clean and natural look that I liked.

Unlike other makeup sticks I tried in the past from drugstores, the Insta-fix didn’t feel heavy or sticky. On the contrary, Revlon’s stick foundation has a silky touch and it feels like a second skin a few seconds after applying it.

Appearance of the skin – the skin gets a very natural look with a satin finish {not entirely matt, but not shiny either}.

My skin got an even and healthy tone after spreading a single and relatively thin layer and even managed to cover almost all of the blemishes I had with the second layer. However, it didn’t hide the dark under-eye circles I had, that I took care of after that with my favorite MAC concealer.

Remember that it’s very important to apply a facial moisturizer before applying your makeup, especially if you have dry skin, because the makeup stick emphasizes the dryness and the skin flakes.

Contains SPF and still looks good in photos – Even though the Insta-Fix contains SPF 20, it doesn’t return flashes in photos {so you won’t come out white as a ghost}. In fact, it looks really good in photos, so it would be great for parties and important events {ahem ahem…  New Year's Eve is just around the corner …}.

Durability – the product is durable and looks good on the skin throughout the day.

Compact and comfortable – The Insta-Fix fits into my favorite category – a multi-use product – it serves as a concealer and as a foundation, and the fact that it’s a stick makes it very comfortable and easy to carry around on a daily basis, making it the perfect product for touch-ups throughout the day.

All in all, I think this product is very useful and has great quality, and the price makes it even more attractive.

I don’t know if I’ll manage to ditch MAC’s foundation and concealers in the near future {I can’t let go} but there’s no doubt that this is a great product, especially if you don’t want to spend 27$ on foundation.
