If you still haven’t been exposed to this colorful and beautiful trend which combines all the things I love to eat for breakfast – fruit smoothie and granola – you reached the right place

For years already, I eat fresh fruit for breakfast every morning and I love it!

Why?

First of all, it’s tasty, sweet and refreshing… there’s a reason they say fruits are nature’s candies.

Secondly, our body is actually a machine that works in regular cycles, so that during the morning hours until the afternoon there is a vigorous process of removing and cleaning the waste and toxins from the body {as I already wrote in this post}. During these hours you should eat foods that will help the cleansing process and will contain all the nutrients your body needs {vitamins, minerals, proteins, amino acids, enzymes, carbohydrates and fatty acids}.

What a lot of people don’t know is that fruits, in their natural state{not cooked or processed}, contain those exact nutrients and it’s best to eat them in the morning because they don’t require active digestion and therefore do not interfere with the self-cleansing process of the body, but help it.

I’ve heard quite a few people who don’t eat fruit because they’re supposedly fattening… So let me break some myths:

First of all, this isn’t true about all fruits – it’s true that grapes, for example, contain a lot of concentrated sugar and are considered fattening, but there are many fruits that don’t have a high calorific value at all {watermelon!}.

Secondly, since fruits hardly require energy for their digestion, because they turn from fructose to glucose very fast, the energy they curate gets directed to cleaning the waste from the body and thus contributes to weight loss. Both tasty and helps weight loss?!?! Yes, you'll be surprised

But there’s one small catch about these sweets – it’s recommended to eat fruit on an empty stomach and not after any other food, because the digestion time of fruits is faster than all other foods – which will delay the fruit in the stomach and fermentation when it comes in contact with the digestive juices and the rest of the food that spoils and becomes acid {it doesn’t just sound bad, it also feels bad…}.

So we agreed you should eat fruit in the morning, right? Yup!

Another problem that I hear from a lot of people is that “fruit isn’t filling or satisfying” when they’re hungry.

My answer to that – eat more! As I already said, fruits are not high-calorie foods like many people think, therefore you shouldn’t cut back the quantity of fruit at breakfast – to provide the body with enough energy you should eat more fruit. What I'm trying to say is that obviously if you eat one apple for breakfast, you’ll be hungry within 15 minutes, but believe me – a big bowl of this smoothie is very satisfying!

And now… enough talking! It’s time for the recipe

** Tip – I love buying fruits for the smoothie during their high season, when prices are cheapest, and just freezing them until they’re needed.

◄◄ Pinkish Smoothie Bowl for the Summer ►►

Preparation Time – 10 minutes, or less.

Quantity – 1 serving.

Ingredients

For the smoothie:

  • 1.5 frozen bananas
  • 6-7 frozen strawberries
  • 1 cup of ice
  • 1 glass of cold water {if you like your shakes very thick, swap the water with milk or yogurt, but keep in mind that the banana thickens the smoothie}.
  • Blender!

Extras:

  • A handful of frozen raspberries
  • A handful of cherries
  • Granola – sugarless is better {I bought mine abroad and it has a combination of healthy things – Goji berry, pumpkin and sunflower seeds, dried wild strawberries – you can easily prepare a mixture by yourself!}
  • A full tablespoon for chia seeds
  • A little shredded dark chocolate {with a high cocoa percentage}

Instructions

  1. Mix all of the smoothie ingredients in the blender.
  2. Pour into a bowl.
  3. Add the extras you like.
  4. Grab a spoon and dig in.

Simple, healthy and easy!

Of course it’s possible to play around with the fruit variety and make tasty and cool versions of this smoothie
