CLINIQUE – Skinny Sticks & Chubby Lash Mascara
A few weeks ago I received two new eye makeup products from Clinique.
As someone who always pictured Clinique more as a care brand rather than a makeup brand, I must admit that I never tried or purchased their makeup products, so I was glad to get the opportunity to review the products for you from the company that’s a bit outside of my usual niche.
The first thing that caught my eye was the new and beautiful spring carton packaging which combines pastel colors, thin and fine writing and of course the company’s logo prominently displayed in silver.
Those of you who know me a bit, know that I’m a sucker for pretty packaging, so there’s no doubt that these products started off the right way.
The first product I tried was Skinny Sticks which is defined by the company as very thin eyeliner, to precisely draw lines.
This is a pencil that doesn’t need sharpening, with a diameter that’s 2/3 of other pencils, so it should enable accurate drawing close to the lash line to create a full and thick lash look.
I received the skinny stick pencil in a dark brown shade and I tried using it in several ways – either as a regular eyeliner close to the upper lash line, and as a pencil for the water line of the lower eyelid.
The pencil’s pigment is very rich and allows drawing thin lines {even for those of you with shaky hands like mine} and it lasts a long time, even though it’s not considered waterproof.
Additionally, thanks to its thickness, it gives an invisible eyeliner makeup look and fully meets the product’s promise to make your eyelashes look fuller by filling tiny spaces between lashes, which emphasizes the eye and makes it look more open.
It also works excellent as a regular eyeliner pencil – it’s very easy to use and it doesn’t irritate the eye as it’s 100% fragrance free.
Honestly, the only thing I didn’t really liked with this product was its color… even though the color is highly pigmented, I don’t use brown pencils for the simple reason that they are almost invisible on me and look much better on women with lighter hair.
You can get this pencil in three additional colors {in Israel} : black {my favorite}, olive green and royal blue, and the price for a pencil is 140 NIS.
I don’t think girls who like heavy makeup should purchase this product, but if you like the gentle makeup look, aimed to highlight your natural features, then you should definitely give it a try.
The second product I received was the Chubby Lash Mascara, intended to turn thin and pale eyelashes to rich eyelashes with a lot of presence with just a few strokes, using the oversized brush.
The mascara comes in a chubby holder, and its brush is similar – long and chubby with a lot of very short bristles that’s very easy to use.
Clinique promises this product will give you thick, rich and full eyelashes, but honestly, that wasn’t the result with my lashes.
According to the product’s description, I expected the results to be similar to the previous mascara I reviewed by BOBBI BROWN, which really gave my lashes the full and even almost artificial look.
In this mascara’s case, I think it’s much more appropriate to define it as lengthening, separating and rounding – because it does that perfectly!!
The formula is excellent because you could layer it on {which gave me the very long eyelash look} and it’s very resistant and doesn’t smudge or crumble on your face until you remove it.
I really liked it and it turned into my number 1 mascara in my makeup bag, even though the product’s description was very different than the result in reality.
This mascara comes in three shades {in Israel} : Jumbo Jet (black), Two Ton Teal (deep turquoise) and Massive Midnight (deep blue), and each one costs 139 NIS..
